Students of the Foundry Institute of the RWTH Aachen University learned the methodology of quick, sustainable, and efficient optimization of products and processes.

Since winter semester 2015/16 the Foundry Institute in collaboration with Peter Schick offered the methodology as subject “Statistical Methods”. The lecture course is integrated into the Bachelor program „Materials Engineering“. Since winter semester 2013/14 the Foundry Institute provided short, annual bloc lectures within the Master program.

Dr.-Ing. Peter Schick is a management consultant. Already from 1987 to 1990 at BMW, he developed, tested and rolled out the basic version of the methodology, then known as system optimization. Core of the methodology are principles, clue, solution options, iteration plans and simple empirical methods. More than 100 projects in research, development, and production of BMW prove effectiveness and efficiency of the methodology. The projects covered a broad variety of applications in engineering and management. The current methodology, called Statistical Engineering, is the result of what was previously more than 25 years experience as an engineer and manager.

You find the detailed and easy-to-use methodology with all building blocks for successful optimization projects in our reference book Statistical Engineering. It is worldwide achievable at Amazon.

For companies we offer training on-the-job in Statistical Engineering. During that training on-the-job engineers and professionals solve several problems with tangible effect on key performance indicators (KPI) of your company.
